SKILL TRAINING AND LIVELIHOOD

SKILL TRAINING AND LIVELIHOOD

Sai Swayam Society (SSS) firmly believes that enabling employment opportunities for persons with disabilities (PwDs) is essential to fostering dignity, self-reliance, and meaningful participation in society. This conviction has fueled over two decades of sustained efforts in skill development, vocational training, and livelihood generation. Through these initiatives, more than 19,000 PwDs have received vocational training across diverse domains and skill levels, while over 17,000 individuals have successfully transitioned into sustainable employment. This remarkable achievement was nationally recognized when the Founder-CEO of Sai Swayam Society was conferred the National Award for Best Placement Officer for PwDs (2014) by the President of India.

SSS’s skill training programs align with nationally recognized frameworks and initiatives, including PMKVY, NSDC, NSQF levels, NULM, Employability Skills Training, and SIPDA. These programs exemplify a robust collaboration between civil society and the Government of India, aimed at the holistic empowerment of marginalized communities.

Training spans a range of industries, including Retail, Hospitality, Basic and Advanced IT, Beauty & Wellness, and Teaching, offering candidates the flexibility to pursue vocations that align with their interests and strengths. This approach upholds individual autonomy and rights, moving beyond a charity-based model toward one rooted in empowerment and informed choice.

To bridge the gap between trained candidates and potential employers, Sai Swayam Society has organized approximately 150 job fairs for PwDs, in partnership with Vocational Rehabilitation Centres (VRCs) across cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Faridabad, Kanpur, Jaipur, Bardhaman, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Alwar, Dungarpur, Jhalore, Barmer, Guwahati, Ambala, Chandigarh, Barnala, and Ahmedabad, including several in-campus recruitment drives.
